In an Oct. 3 post on X, Starbuck told followers that his publicization of what he described as automobile manufacturer Toyota "going woke" had paid off as the company had taken several actions to scale back its embrace of progressive ideology. He pointed to the company's intention to no longer get involved with "pride parades, pride events or LGBTQ children's summer camps" as one positive development.

Starbuck also said that like other companies that have reduced progressive advocacy, Toyota had committed to refrain from participating in the Human Rights Campaign's "woke Corporate Equality Index social credit system."
