Westman's name change was confirmed Wednesday afternoon by FBI Director Kash Patel, who identified Westman as a "male born as Robert Westman."

Court documents cited by a local Minnesota news outlet appeared to show Westman's application in January 2020 for a legal name change at the age of 17.
