6 things to know about the ongoing unrest in Minneapolis: 'A wake-up call'
3. Encrypted anti-ICE activist Signal chats
A coordinated network of anti-ICE activists in the Minneapolis area used encrypted Signal group chats and other tools to track federal immigration agents and mobilize protests, according to a Monday report from Fox News Digital.
The outlet reviewed the encrypted messages and the group's database of license plates they used to track ICE agents and their vehicles. "Rapid-response" activists in the network also reportedly shared real-time alerts about the locations of federal agents in an effort to summon protesters to interfere with enforcement actions.
The report found that a user posted a video for rapid responders around the location of Glam Doll Donuts on Nicollet Avenue, where the Pretti shooting took place, shortly before it happened. Another had broadcast agents' positions.
The report alleged that after Pretti's death, socialist and far-left groups capitalized on the event in an attempt to frame him as a martyr to push an anti-ICE narrative and further foment unrest.
