'Batman: Arkham Knight' News, Update: New Gameplay Details Emerge, Loading Screens Ditched
Rocksteady Studio's highly anticipated action-adventure video game "Batman: Arkham Knight" is now close to hitting the store shelves yet fans are still on the lookout for more information as to what the new game will bring. Here's what we heard:
Game director Sefton Hill in a recent interview where he explains the title's additional feature, the "New Game Plus" mode. The mode mentioned is said to unlock after players were able to finish the main story. It basically gives fans the opportunity to go back on the hard challenges but will now be equipped with more powerful gadgetries.
"In New Game Plus, you can go in and take all of your XP through, take your gadgets through that you've unlocked; which is a big thing, because that means basically you can do some of the challenges from earlier on in the game but with a whole new suite of gadgets you never had the first time or the upgrades. And any Riddler trophies that you've found are shared on both playthroughs," Hill told GameSpot.
The game director went on to tease that playing Arkham Knight will be seamless thanks to the exclusion of loading screens.
"No loading screens as you play through the whole game," Hill said. "You can play from the start of the game to the end of the game and you won't see any loading screens. That's all a really big important thing for us."
Combat-wise, the new game will also see a host of high tech weapons which will further empower Batman during his quests to destroy the enemies of Gotham.
Among the previously mentioned is the "anti-gun gun." Officially called the Disruptor, the weapon has the ability to "jam the weapons of an opponent, buying Batman precious time to gain the advantage and land the first attack," as described on the Arkham Knights Forum.
After a series of hiccups, "Batman: Arkham Knight" is now ready to launch for current-gen consoles PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well as on PC this June 23.
