'Blood on your hands': 3 highlights from House hearing with 'sanctuary city' mayors

3. Anna Paulina Luna vows to file criminal referrals to the DOJ
During her time, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., said that she would criminally refer the Democratic mayors to the U.S. Department of Justice for investigation.
The Republican representative asserted that the policies upheld by the mayors are a violation of Title 8, U.S.C. § 1324, a federal law that prohibits transporting or harboring illegal migrants.
"You all speak about a broken immigration system and yet here you guys are aiding and abetting in that entire process," Luna stated, holding up the paperwork she planned to deliver to Attorney General Pam Bondi after the hearing.
"I'm not doing that in an effort to bully you guys, but I do believe your policies are hurting the American people," the Florida lawmaker added.
Luna questioned Mayor Wu about Boston's Trust Act, which includes certain restrictions regarding how police can work with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The act prohibits police from sharing certain information with ICE and from holding someone based on ICE civil administrative warrants if there is no other criminal charge.
The Florida lawmaker argued that Boston's Trust Act is in "direct violation" of federal law, which says that local governments cannot restrict communication with federal immigration authorities. Wu claimed that this is untrue, and in defense of the policy, she said that Boston officials cooperate with ICE when there is a criminal warrant.
In addition to Luna's announcement, Republican Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., told Wu and the other mayors, "You all have blood on your hands," referring to the deaths and injuries in their cities committed by illegal migrants.
"All of the mayors here today are actively working to harm the American people you represent," Mace said.
