Last night on "Dancing With the Stars," the strain of competing and fighting to get out of the bottom three for two weeks in a row got to Candace Cameron Bure. She and partner Mark Ballas decided to see the resident sports psychologist in order to get to the root of her emotional distress and went on to dance their way into safety heading into week 8.

"I want to be the best for you," Bure told Ballas during their session with the psychologist. She broke down in tears during the meeting and later admitted to the cameras that she felt the session brought up old insecurities that she didn't realize she was battling.

"I want the two of us to get to the end," she told Ballas. "I never want to be the reason for disappointment."

Bure grew up in the spotlight with a starring role on the hit series "Full House" and came of age portraying a teenager battling with the typical insecurities of a girl her age. But for Bure, it was the stress post-show eventually led to an eating disorder, which she sought treatment for and now relies on her faith and family to help her deal with.

"I think I was very protected by my parents and even the producers," Bure told Omg! Insider last year. "They all show sensitivity about it. The producers were parents themselves. I don't think any of them wanted to see that happen to their child, so I was protected."

However, once she left the show, it was a difficult transition to married life, moving from California to Montreal, and just being herself with no cameras around.

"I turned to food for comfort and had to find a different source, because clearly it wasn't a healthy way to deal with things," she noted. "So that's really when my faith was kicked up a notch and I sought comfort in my relationship with God and not with food."

During "DWTS," Bure and Ballas took the advice of the sports psychologist, who urged Bure not to psych herself out before competing and just enjoy the dance. They received high praise from judges and earned enough points to remain safe until next week.

"Dancing With the Stars" airs Monday nights on ABC.
