Emma Watson: In No Rush to Appear 'Sexy'

In a recent interview, Emma Watson admitted that changing her image into something more grown up has never been important to her.

The 23-year-old actress is best known for her role in the "Harry Potter" films as Hermione Granger.

However, Watson's latest role in Sofia Coppola's "Bling Ring" is far different, causing the actress to grapple with the challenge of growing up in Hollywood.

"I've never wanted to grow up too fast," said the British starlet speaking to W magazine. "I wanted to wear a sports bra until I was 22!"

After years of playing schoolgirl Hermione, Watson will appear as a dark-haired, fame-obsessed teen Nikki in "Bling Ring."

Despite the change in roles, the actress maintained that appearing sexy is irrelevant.

"The allure of being sexy never really held any excitement for me," said Watson. "I've never been in a terrible rush to be seen as a woman."

As for her "Bling Ring" role, Watson revealed that she detested her character Nikki.

"She's superficial, materialistic, vain, amoral," Watson explained to GQ of her character. "She's all of these things and I realized that I hated her."

Watson's character is loosely based on Alexis Neiers, who briefly starred on E!'s television series "Pretty Wild," according to Yahoo! News.

"When I read the script and I realized that essentially it was meditation on fame and what it's become in our society, I had to do it," Watson added. "The character is everything that I felt strongly against."

Based on a true story, "The Bling Ring" follows a group of teenagers who use the internet to stalk celebrities in order to rob their homes.

The film will make its debut at the Cannes Film Festival, but a teaser has revealed Watson with a mean-girl attitude and featured scenes of the actress pole-dancing.

"The Bling Ring" also stars Israel Broussard, Katie Chang, and Leslie Mann. It is scheduled for released in limited theaters on June 14.

Watson has also appeared in films such as "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" and "Ballet Shoes," and she will appear in the upcoming "Noah."
