Fitness Evolution: 30-Minute Fitness for Women

Thirty-minute fitness for women is evolving into a more complex and member-focused system. Truestar for Women is at the forefront of the evolution.

Fitness past
Over the past 20 years the fitness industry has experienced a huge change in how exercise is perceived and endured. Jogging and running were the staple exercises in the 1970s for anyone who wanted to get in shape and improve their health. The 1980s saw a surge in bodybuilding-type gyms, which obviously attempted to mirror the infamous Venus Beach gym where Arnold Schwarzenegger and other world-renowned bodybuilders shaped their bodies. Later, as the “no pain, no gain” mantra begin to diminish and the benefits of moderate exercise began to emerge, fitness centers that cater to people of all ages and fitness levels began to hit the scene. The early 1990s also saw an increase in women-only fitness clubs along with a drastic rise in fitness infomercial products.

Fitness present
Today you will probably find a fitness center or health club on every block of any highly populated neighborhood. Personal fitness studios that specialize in one-on-one personal training have also dramatically increased in number, as people are willing to spend $100 or more per hour for private lessons.

Thirty-minute fitness for women started in the early to mid-90s and has since exploded into one of the most popular fitness franchise opportunities. In essence, this simple concept enables woman to function as part of a community committed to one goal—better health. A mixture of hydraulic machines and aerobic platforms are organized in a circuit training fashion and members generally spend 30 seconds exercising on a machine followed by 30 seconds of light jogging on the aerobic platform. Today, the world’s largest fitness and weight loss franchise has over 8,000 locations worldwide and has helped more than 2 million women reach their fitness and health goals.

Fitness future
Thirty-minute women’s circuit training is booming. Most new businesses of this type offer similar benefits and exercise experience. A shortcoming with these centers is that the members are not given the opportunity to challenge themselves with a new workout routine or workout variety. The Truestar for Women 30-minute circuit has broken away from the mold and created a new evolution in circuit training for women. In addition to offering members access to the world’s most comprehensive online health and fitness system, members are educated and receive personalized programs in the five key areas of health: Nutrition, Vitamins and Supplements, Exercise, Sleep and Attitude.

Unique features of the Truestar for Women circuit
At Truestar Health our focus has always been to create a system that is accessible to people of all ages and fitness levels. Our specialized circuit allows our members to move quickly from one station to the next, keeping their heart rate elevated and exercising at an intensity level that feels comfortable and encouraging. The 25-minute workout tones muscles and strengthens heart and lungs by combining a mixture of resistance and aerobic exercise. The Truestar workout includes an assortment of hydraulic machines, free weight muscle toning stations, aerobic platforms and step boxes arranged to facilitate optimal fitness and health conditioning.

Truestar for Women circuit is evolutionary for 7 unique reasons:

1. The workout allows for the continual progressive increase in intensity by simply increasing the speed at every station or by extending the amount of time a member is active on the station (no other system has integrated this feature). Women of varying fitness levels (beginner, intermediate or advanced) can exercise at the same time.

2. The aerobic stations can be used for more advanced exercise for members who want a greater challenge or more variety. Over 60 videos are available to help members learn proper exercise technique and exercises for variety.

3. The integrated recovery squares for each station allow a woman to keep her heart rate within the appropriate training zone while waiting to move on to the next station.

4. Since it is customary to perform a resistance training session every other day, members can still enjoy the circuit training environment by spending more time at the aerobic stations. For instance, an aerobic workout would consist of 30 seconds on every resistance training machine and 60 seconds at every aerobic station.

5. The circuit includes 25 stations which do not require repeat sets. This is a great psychological boost as optimal effort will be given at every station. Members won’t feel the need to “save their energy” for the next set since the next set is an entirely different exercise. The circuit also includes multiple exercises for similar muscle groups which improves the level of adaptation and fitness.

6. The unique system includes hydraulic machines, free weight stations and step stations. This is a very important feature as many 30-minute fitness competitors have been criticized for their lack of muscular toning machines. Hydraulic machines alone cannot provide the necessary stimulus to promote an increase in muscular strength, lean muscle mass and protection from various ailments such as osteoporosis. Eventually the hydraulic machines fail to provide the necessary stimulus to promote further lean muscle growth and increases in metabolism.

7. Truestar for Women also provides an online cardiovascular program with a heart rate zone calculator. Cardiovascular exercise is an integral part of health and should be performed a minimum of two times per week.

Final points
Circuit training is not a new concept; it was very popular in the 1950s and 1960s. It offers tremendous health benefits and it is fun to do which makes it a very popular form of exercise. Hectic schedules do not give women much time for themselves. Health should always be at the forefront of priorities but, unfortunately, it is often cast aside for what appears to be more urgent and important. Thirty-minute circuit training appears to be the answer for many women who are looking for quick and lasting benefits. Is circuit training the “be all end all”? Of course not. However, it provides enough stimulus to promote weight loss, an increase in metabolism and numerous health benefits.
