Growing number of hospitals stop sex-change operations after Trump order: List

3. Kaiser Permanente
A spokesperson for Kaiser Permanente, one of the largest health insurance providers in the U.S. that also operates a network of hospitals, told local news outlet KTXL that it was pausing sex-change surgeries for trans-identified youth younger than 19 effective on Aug. 29, after having conversations with internal and external medicine experts following the executive order.
While Kaiser has stopped performing said elective surgeries on minors, it will continue to prescribe puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones to youth.
“We recognize that this is an extremely challenging and stressful time for our patients seeking care, as well as for our clinicians whose mission is to care for them,” the Kaiser spokesperson said, vowing that the health insurer will “work closely with each patient to support their care journey.”
