HTC One to Be Free Upfront for Customers Purchasing Device With No Contract

HTC is now offering the HTC One unlocked for $0 down payment.

Customers will have the option to finance the device without a contract and without paying the full price of the smartphone up front, which is normally $599.

The deal is available on the 32GB model and can only be accessed by those with qualifying credit. Once customers pass the credit check they can begin making $25 monthly payments to HTC until the device is paid in full. The device should be completely paid off in two years as long as they are made on schedule.

HTC also will not charge any interest if all the payments are made on time. If buyers miss one the company will charge 29.99 percent interest on the financing plan. This seems to be the only catch to the financing plan.

This unlocked version will work with AT&T and T-Mobile in the U.S. and should also be compatible with any other GSM network in the country.

T-Mobile offers a similar finance deal for the HTC One, however, the carrier requires buyers to shell out $50 upfront. The monthly payments on the device are $20 for 20 months. Once all the payments are complete on both of these plans, they end up costing customers around the same amount. The main difference would be the pre-loaded apps that T-Mobile installs into its device. Purchasing it through HTC will only get users the company's apps.

Those looking to purchase this unlocked version directly through HTC could bring it to AT&T for service as the carrier is now offering Mobile Share Value plans. The new plans save users $15 a month when they bring an unlocked phone to the network.
