Newtown Conspiracy Theory Denounced by Newtown Official, Angers Public

The Newtown conspiracy theory being touted by Florida Atlantic University professor, James Tracy, has upset victims' families and caused a great deal of controversy across the nation.

"While it sounds like an outrageous claim, one is left to inquire whether the Sandy Hook shooting ever took place – at least in the way law enforcement authorities and the nation's news media have described," Tracy published on his blog, Memory Hole.

This is not the first time that Tracy has questioned the actions or reports of mass casualties. He has offered theories about the Sept. 11 attacks as well as the Oklahoma City bombing. Tracy compared the Sept. 11 attacks to George Orwell's "1984" "to suggest how from the very beginning the corporate media played a central role in setting the stage for the prevalent Osama bin Laden-Al Qaeda myth…"

Now Tracy has claimed, "As documents relating to the Sandy Hook shooting continue to be assessed and interpreted by independent researchers, there is a growing awareness that the media coverage of the massacre of 26 children and adults was intended primarily for public consumption to further larger political ends."

He ties the Sandy Hook shooting back to the larger Orwellian theme he seems to be fond of and relates it to the Oklahoma City bombing and Sept. 11. If one does not believe as the media reports, Tracy claims, one is "vigorously condemned for thought crimes against the state."

"To declare that the shooting 'never took place' is cause for intense opprobrium in most polite circles where, in familiar Orwellian fashion, the media-induced trance and dehistoricized will to believe maintain their hold," Tracy writes.

His theory of Sandy Hook includes the idea of "crisis actors" who were brought in to manipulate the media and draw further attention to the situation at-hand.

"There are numerous strange encounters between broadcast journalists and small and sporadic groups of wandering parents and children, some of whom are at best moderately curious and far from grief-stricken or hysterical at the prospect that their child may have been caught in the deadly assault," Tracy notes.

He also theorizes that it was, in fact, a "relocated emergency drill" that included no "photographic or video footage of the crime scene." Tracy bases this theory on the "little information available to piece together what may have actually transpired inside the school."

Now many are responding to Tracy's claims with disbelief and disgust.

"It's a good thing stupid isn't illegal or this guy would be in jail. How is he allowed to TEACH anyone anything?" Jeffrey Levine tweeted.

"It is outrageous and an insult to all caring people to think that this man would choose this event as a stage for his outlandish conspiracy theories. Professor Tracy is an embarrassment to me as an educator and should be to you as well. I can assure you, sadly, that the events here in Newtown unfolded exactly as are being reported, with the horrible outcome of the violent death of 26 innocent people, including 20 children," Newtown First Selectman E. Patricia Llodra told Fox News in an email.
