Snoop Dogg Appears on 'The Price is Right' for Charity (VIDEO)

“The Price is Right” has kicked off the new year with a celebrity-infused Charity Week, and Snoop Dogg is the first to “come on down.”

The rapper, actor, singer, and record-producer appeared on the show today as part of celebrity charity week on “The Price is Right.” Other celebrities hoping to win money for their charities include Jenny McCarthy, Neil Patrick Harris, Chris Daughtry, and Heidi Klum.

Snoop Dogg, born Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr., is well-known for his rapping style and outgoing personality, but many may not know that he also has a great passion for football. He has served as the coach for his son’s football team and, in 2003 told USA Today: “Teaching kids is something fun. I am falling in love with these kids.”

He founded the Snoop Youth Football League in 2005, and it has served over 1,300 youth from inner-city areas. The League’s mission is to “provide youth, regardless of race, color or creed, or economic background the chance to learn the values of character, integrity, discipline, and team work through football and cheer.”

It also hopes “to bring communities together through a common interest in sports and to promote fair play and fellowship.” Players are required to keep their grades up and must have a 2.0 average in order to play. National Football League legend Deon Sanders has hosted the season-ending “Snoop Bowl.”

“The Price is Right” is a CBS game-show in which contestants play pricing games in order to win money and prizes. It was previously hosted by Bob Barker who retired in 2007; comedian Drew Carey now hosts. The show celebrated 35 years on the air in 2006, making it the longest-running game show in America.
