Ivan Prokhanov dies – Oct. 6, 1935

This week marks the anniversary of when Ivan Prokhanov, a Russian Evangelical theologian, writer and leader, died at the age of 69 in Berlin, Germany.
Born in Vladikavkaz, Russia, to a family belonging to the Christian sect known as the Molokans, Prokhanov grew up to become a prominent figure in Russian Evangelical Christianity.
Prokhanov is the founder of The Christian, a prominent religious journal that ran editions from 1906-1928, as well as the group, the All-Russian Evangelical Christian Union, in 1909.
Credited with helping to found thousands of churches, Prokhanov was arrested multiple times by Communist authorities and barred from reentering the country in 1928 while he was abroad.
Reportedly, his last words were, “And for him, are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.”
