Trump's week in review: New refugee policy, Board of Peace meeting

1. The Supreme Court strikes down Trump's tariffs
The U.S. Supreme Court struck down President Donald Trump’s global tariffs on Friday, dealing a blow to a critical element of the president's economic agenda.
The 6-3 decision held that Trump unlawfully used emergency powers to impose sweeping tariffs on many countries last year without congressional approval. The majority opinion was authored by Chief Justice John Roberts. He was joined in the majority by conservative Justices Neil Gorsuch and Amy Coney Barrett, as well as the court's three liberal members.
"As the Government admits, the President and Congress do not 'enjoy concurrent constitutional authority' to impose tariffs during peacetime," Roberts wrote. "The Framers gave that power to 'Congress alone' — notwithstanding the obvious foreign affairs implications of tariffs."
In response to the ruling, Trump reportedly vowed to impose a global 10% tariff as an alternative, according to The Associated Press.
“Their decision is incorrect,” Trump was quoted as saying Friday. “But it doesn’t matter because we have very powerful alternatives.”
