2. CBP reports zero illegal aliens released into the US in May

United States Customs and Border Protection released statistics Tuesday revealing that the U.S. Border Patrol had released zero illegal immigrants into the interior of the U.S. in May, a significant drop from the 62,000 released into the U.S. in May 2024 by the Biden administration.

The number of encounters between the U.S. Border Patrol and illegal immigrants seeking entry into the country at the southwest border was measured at 8,725 in May, a 93% decrease from the 117,905 encounters that occurred in May 2024.

In a statement reacting to the statistics, Acting CBP Commissioner Pete Flores attributed the low number of border crossings and the fact that no illegal aliens were released into the U.S. to the Trump administration’s immigration policies. “Under the leadership of this administration, CBP has received historic support resulting in another 93% decrease in illegal crossings along the southwest border this month when compared with last year,” he said.

“Border numbers continue to trend at historic lows, reinforcing the sustained success of our enforcement efforts in securing the homeland and protecting American communities,” Flores added.
