'Destiny 2' Updates: Xur's Location and Gear for This Weekend

Xur, the tentacle-faced exotic gear merchant, has returned to "Destiny 2" with more weapons and gear.

This weekend, Xur can be found in the Giant's Scar region on Io. In the Director guide, players should see the Roman numeral IX appear north of the nearest marker.

"A peddler of strange curios, Xur's motives are not his own," the waypoint reads. "He bows to his distant masters, the Nine."

Instead of Strange Coins, Xur will now be transacting with Legendary Shards. While exotic weapons are priced at 29 Shards, armor costs 23. The items are not that pricey for Guardians who have acquired much of this currency, but are they worth it?

Xur will have a few notable items on hand, which changes weekly. And the weapon for the week is the DARCI Sniper Rifle. Daily Star consulted a "Destiny" expert named Arekkz and said that the exotic is not necessarily worth it, given that there are far better power options and Legendary sniper rifles out there.

Other items in Xur's stock include a Knucklehead Radar Helmet, an Actium War Rig Chest Armor, and an Eye of Another World Warlock Helmet armor. All three items are priced at 23 Shards.

Players who are still accumulating the aforementioned currency, especially PC Gamers who have only started playing this week, should be able to obtain them by dismantling legendary and exotic weapons and armor. Gamers will also acquire Legendary Shards by striking rare bosses or during weekly nightfalls, raid encounters, and flashpoints. Obtaining rare planetary chests, lost sector chests, and raid chests should also produce shards.

It is to be noted that gamers should collect as many shards as they can, if they plan on purchasing from the merchant. Xur will not stay for long. This mysterious vendor disappears every Tuesday at 10 a.m. for the weekly game reset.
