The legendary country music singer announced the news on Twitter on Thursday, Feb. 27.

Organizers of the festival confirmed that Parton's plans for Glastonbury were a long time coming, according to the BBC.

"It's been something we've been wanting to happen for a long time," said festival programmer Emily Eavis. "And she finally said yes."

The Glastonbury Festival is Britain's most prestigious summer music fest, and it is held on the Eavis family farm in southwest England. Although Parton just announced her attendance at the festival, about 120,000 tickets for the June 25-29 event had already sold out before acts were even announced.

Little else is known about the lineup at this year's Glastonbury Festival aside from Parton and the band Arcade Fire. Last year, the festival saw performances by the Rolling Stones, Mumford & Sons, Kenny Rogers and the Arctic Monkeys, to name a few.

Parton is known as one of the most successful female country artists of all time. She has composed over 3,000 songs, including "I Will Always Love You" which was famously covered by the late Whitney Houston. Parton is also known for hit songs such as "Coat of Many Colors," "Jolene," and "My Tennessee Mountain Home," among many others.

The Dollywood theme park owner is a frequent Twitter user, and reminded her nearly 3 million followers that, "Dreams are of no value if they're not equipped with wings!"
