'Final Fantasy XV' News: Game Director Hints PC Version of Game Highly Unlikely

Hajime Tabata, game director to Square Enix's highly anticipated action role-playing video game, "Final Fantasy XV," has said that a PC version of the title might be highly unlikely to happen for reasons that he's got other plans in mind.

In an interview with the people from Jeux Video, with the translation from French to English provided by Nova Crystallis, the game maker was asked if SE will release FFXV to the aforementioned platform.

"I'm quite positive about the idea of developing a PC version, but I would like to make a very different project if possible. The reason I'm interested is that a PC version would propel the game to another technical level. I have in mind a version of Final Fantasy XV that is more technically developed," he said.

For him, he would like the version to incorporate "things that we were forced to abandon because of the limitations of home consoles." He admitted that with the PC variant, it would be possible for SE to release a version of the game that is "far superior in terms of quality and tech."

Tabata went on to explain that with that fact in mind, the company would have to allocate more resources of people, time, and money to work on the project. The first step of which would require SE to conduct an intensive research to find the best technology to use.

His statement happens to coincide with the statement he released to Engadget.com earlier last week.

"Unfortunately we weren't able to do simultaneous development on a PC and console version for XV," he said. "We had to focus on the console version and our goal was to maximize, optimize everything for the HD consoles."

Only after completing the task that SE can "take a good, hard look at PC." Until then, the focus is with Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles.

"Final Fantasy XV" is slated to hit the store shelves on September 30, 2016.
