National Coffee Day 2017: Places To Get Free Coffee, Discounts

Friday, Sept. 29, is National Coffee Day. It's an exciting day for caffeine lovers because several restaurants, cafes, and convenience stores are giving away free coffee.

According to People, Dunkin' Donuts customers can get a free medium cup of coffee as long as they purchase another medium, large, or extra-large cup. It is to be noted that not all locations in the U.S. may be participating in the event.

Krispy Kreme is also said to be giving away free coffee, with no purchase required, during the National Coffee Day weekend, from Friday to Sunday. Cinnabon, Cumberland Farms, and Einstein Bros. Bagels are also reportedly giving away coffee with no strings attached on Friday.

Tim Hortons is also participating, but customers must first download their mobile app in order to get one free iced or hot coffee, in any size, from Sept. 29 to Oct. 8. Meanwhile, members of 7-Eleven's 7Rewards app will also receive a coupon that is good for one free coffee, of any size, which is redeemable anytime from Friday through Sunday.

There are also other establishments that will not be giving away free coffee but will be offering discounts. This includes Baskin Robbins, which is offering their customers a small Cappuccino Blast for only $2.99 for the whole month of October; Peet's Coffee & Tea, which is offering 25 percent off on coffee bean purchases and a free cup of coffee for anyone who buys a bag of beans.

Another interesting thing that is happening on National Coffee Day is getting a free can of High Bre Cold Bew Coffee when taking a Lyft ride in select cities. According to USA Today, this includes San Francisco, Portland, Austin, Seattle, Los Angeles, Dallas, Philadelphia, and Chicago.

Starbucks will not be participating in the free coffee giveaway. However, in honor of the event, the Seattle-based company will be doing something different.

From Friday to Sunday, there will be no menu boards in the stores. Instead, Starbucks will share important information with their customers about how all of their coffee purchases have affected the company in positive ways, especially when it comes to sourcing their coffee ethically and sustainably.
