PlayStation VR will be launched on October 13, 2016, just two weeks from now. Worth $400, the price is a bit of a stretch, but so far, fans and experts have made positive reviews about game performance and the realism of the virtual reality experience with this device.
Maximizing Gaming Experience
Several requirements are needed to effectively use this virtual reality gadget. For one, a minimum of 60 square feet of space is needed to use the device. You also need a chair; playing games through the PlayStation VR require sitting down.
Even if the user isn't really moving around when using the VR device, 60 square feet is still needed because that's the area required for the PlayStation Camera to project into. Any objects within this space is obstruction to the technology.
Try it First
Sony also advises potential buyers to try out the virtual reality experience before purchasing it. "PS VR uses 3D vision technology. As there are individual differences in viewing 3D graphics and feeling of wearing VR headset, please try PS VR at shops or trial events before purchase."
By the last quarter of 2016, Sony expects around 50 games will be made available for PlayStation VR. The following are some of these games.
First is "Batman Arkham VR". At the Comic-Con International San Diego 2016, fans tried out this game for the first time and said they felt like they really were Batman. It features being able to use Batman's weapons and gadgets in fighting and solving crime.
Another PlayStation VR game is "Job Simulator". The game simulates four jobs: Auto Mechanic, Gourmet Chef, Office Worker and Convenience Store Clerk.
"EVE: Valkyrie" is another game. This one's available at the demo disc that comes when you buy the PlayStation VR. In this game, you are inside the cockpit of a spaceship and are immediately thrown into space to fight to survive.
"Rez Infinite" is described by PlayStation as "the ultimate version of Sega's psychedelic rail-shooter adventure… fully remastered and evolved."
Sony PlayStation VR has a lot of features which make it stand out from other VR devices in the market. For one, it is perhaps the most comfortable device, since it makes sure the weight of the device is balanced on both the back and front of your head.
When purchasing the Sony PlayStation VR, you will get all the necessary accessories: cables, demo disc, stereo earphones, processor unit and the VR Headset.
In addition, this new device is not just built for VR. You can also play non-virtual reality games with it and watch videos using the cinema mode.
