PS4 vs. Xbox One vs. Wii U: PlayStation 4 Predicted to Sell the Most Consoles During Christmas

With all three next-gen consoles out and the holidays approaching, the PS4, Xbox One, and Wii U will be battling for who will reign supreme this Christmas.

Paddy Power predicts the PS4 will have 1/8 odds of being the top-selling console this holiday season, with the Xbox One having 9/2 odds.

"It's all been one way traffic in the betting," a Paddy Power spokesperson told MCV. "It looks as though it's game over for Xbox in the eyes of our punters at least."

It seems the general public would agree with Paddy Power as well.

PS4 recently beat out Xbox One and Wii U in an online poll for which console holiday shoppers planned on buying.

According to a Reuters-conducted poll that ran from Sept. 23-27 26 percent said they would purchase a PS4 once available and only 15 percent chose Xbox One. 1,297 people were polled.

For people aged 40 and below, the number was larger, with PS4 beating out the Xbox One 41 percent to 27 percent.

As far as gamers' current habits, only three percent said they play the Wii U. 20 percent play the Xbox 360, 20 percent use the PC, and 18 percent play the PlayStation 3.

64 percent said they would not be purchasing a new console this season.

Since this poll, both the PS4 and Xbox One have launched, and sold over a million units in their first day. However, the numbers are a bit uneven as the Xbox One was launched globally and PS4 only in North America, making their debut much more impressive.

The Wii U, however, is still trying to play catch up even though it has been out for a little over a year. The numbers look better with their growing library of games, but they are clearly in the minority.

Which console will you be purchasing this holiday season if any?
