'Shades of Blue' Spoilers: Anticipation Builds With Release of First Trailer

NBC's upcoming brand new TV series "Shades of Blue" starring Jennifer Lopez, Ray Liotta and Drea de Matteo has raked up a storm and has notched up more than a million and a half YouTube views. According to Variety, this has taken the trailer to the top of the Trending leaderboards and it has earned itself seventh place on this week's Broadcast leaderboard.

That this NBC show is garnering a lot of attention is an understatement. When NBC first released the poster of the show, viewers thought that this did not look much different from "The Mysteries of Laura." But the trailer blew everybody's minds.

NBC has also moved the premiere date of "Shades of Blue" by a week, says another report from Variety. Now the show will premiere on January 7 instead of January 14 as was previously announced.

"Shades of Blue" is a police procedural and also has a legal and crime setup. It is set against the backdrop of police corruption that is a hot issue right now. Jennifer Lopez stars as Harlee Santos, a single mother who is also a cop who has to deal with the police corruption in her precinct.

Due to some events in her past, Harlee is forced to spy on her colleagues in NYPD by FBI's anti-corruption task force. As a single mother, she is also beset with financial problems. The series has been created by Adi Hasak for NBC and will most probably have 13 episodes in its freshman season.

NBC has not given any explanation why it has moved "Shades of Blue" ahead by a week, but it seems that the show's premiere will take advantage of the hype around NBC's first three-show crossover of the "Chicago" shows of "Chicago Fire," "Chicago Med" and "Chicago PD." Plus, the buzz surrounding "Shades of Blue" is sure to attract viewers to its premiere that will be a two-part event.

The premiere of "Shades of Blue" will air in the 10-12 pm slot after NBC's Thursday 8-10 p.m. dramas "Heroes Reborn" and "The Blacklist."
