'Zombie Panic! Source' Update to Launch in December

"Zombie Panic! Source" developers detailed the much-awaited update v3.0 over the weekend. Its new and improved features were revealed as well as its release date.

Through a lengthy blog post, the developers announced that the update will be launched on the 8th of Dec. They also explained their hiccups in developing and revamping the game which is also why they could not set a launch date right away.

"When issues with salvaging the original code let to temporary breaks in development, we started coming up with ideas on how to make the game look, sound and feel more modern – While still maintaining its game design that we believe is not found in many of today's games," they wrote.

They opted to introduce new content with the update, which was not in the original plan. Though this slowed development, they felt obligated to continue to pursue such a feat for the update to be a success.

This ambitious task may have left them sidetracked when they were at the same time facing issues with the code. Consequently, the developers were unable to give their full attention to other aspects. For instance, they decided to revamp the levels instead of redoing everything. They admit that they could not refine each level as they intended to; nevertheless, they assured patrons that they do have plans to launch more updates after v3.0.

They will also be relying on gamers' feedback and will adjust accordingly.

In terms of gameplay, headshots will now cause nearly the same damage as zps and zpo while body shots are still the same needless endeavor. Survivors will also be given the opportunity to hold their ground against the undead. It should make the game mode more challenging than the regular version.

Furthermore, the developers made changes to the game's soundtrack and sound effects. Easter eggs have also been scattered in the game which should make the narrative more cohesive.

"Zombie Panic! Source was developed by Zombie Panic Team. It launched in 2007.
