'Zombieland 2' Announced, Logo of Sequel Unveiled

The 2009 American zombie comedy film "Zombieland" is finally getting a sequel. After long seven years, "Zombieland 2" is no longer a rumor now as it has been confirmed already that it's going to happen. According to a report by Indiewire, the news was first announced during the 2016 CinemaCon that took place earlier this week in Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

Comic Book noted that the logo for the sequel of the rip-roaring cult comedy was unveiled to the public. It's still the same classic logo from the first film but with just the number two. And the company responsible to bring in another dose of apocalyptic laughs is Sony Pictures, which is said to be already working on the development of the film.

Apart from the sequel logo, not much is known about the movie especially with regards to the cast. As detailed in Zimbio, the first "Zombieland" starred Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson and Abigail Breslin. It also had a cameo role by Bill Murray. It is still to be known though if all or any of the cast will be coming back together for a reunion to create the sequel.

Nonetheless, there are names that are sure to return already to the film. Digital Spy reported that Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the film's original creators, are going to be back to work on the part two. They will be joined by Dave Callaham who is also the writer of "Godzilla" and the "Expendables" franchise. Ruben Fleischer has been tagged to direct again as well.

"Zombieland" follows the story of geeky college kid, Columbus. After a virus turned people into zombies, Columbus figures out how to survive the apocalypse. Along the way he encounters other survivors, Tallahassee, Wichita and Little Rock. Together they drive their way across the Southwestern United States to find a zombie-free refuge.
