Reducing abortions, faith and unity: Americans share their hopes for Trump’s presidency

Chief Palota wants Trump to speak for the voiceless
Chief Palota, a Polynesian man, said he traveled from Hawaii to celebrate Trump’s inauguration, adding that he plans to continue celebrating throughout the Republican president’s term.
Speaking to why he supports Trump, Palota said he believes that the two-term president provides people like him with a voice, something he accused those on the political Left of trying to suppress.
“People who work really hard every day and get up in the morning and go to work for their families,” Palota said. “Those are the people that are the backbone of our country. The Democratic Party pushes them down and treats them like they're nothing; they're zero.”
The Trump supporter expressed frustration over the unwillingness to communicate, which is what he claimed to have experienced from people who disagree with him politically. Palota added that he wished he could just sit down for coffee with someone on the Left and have a conversation, saying, “Because we’re all human beings, you know?”
