Ask Mom, Ask Dad: What if School Popularity Comes at Expense of Moral Ethics?

This brings me to my second point: their relationship with Jesus will ultimately be their own. We have taught our children that we believe in a living relationship and not a religion.

So make sure your kids are going to church, reading the Word, and that you are praying for them and with them. Jesus cannot touch our children if they aren't around Him. So make sure the faith isn't just for Sundays. Even if their "popular" peers don't respect the faith, as your kids come to know the Lord personally, they will not be as easily swayed into temptation (or at least, their faith compass will draw them back!)

Dad Says:  Many families these days are breaking down. When I was a boy my own family broke down when my father abandoned us (we never saw him again). One of my close friends was a Christian and came from a strong Christian family. The more time I spent at their home the more I realized the power of the Christian faith for families. It's easy to argue theology – it's not easy to argue with a good family that loves each other and sticks together through thick and thin (especially in an age where so many families are breaking down).

My friend's family had problems of course – that's the world we live in. But they used their faith to overcome their problems...and they really loved each other. That made a huge impact on me and is one of the reasons I committed my life to Christ some years later.

Now as our own kids are in their teens and twenties, they see that Christianity has held our family together in an age where many (most?) of their friends parents are divorced or separated. And that has had an impact in their lives – and even in the lives of some of their friends.

So let's be sure we are showing the love and wisdom of Christ in our families...and through our families to the world. And let's be sure to love our children. As the Good Book tells us "Love never fails." And in the end, we believe that is true.

We hope you will join us next week. May our Heavenly Father bless you and your family in His love and peace and joy...even in the tough and sometimes cruel world in which we live.

Onward and Upward!!

Marina and Gregory
