— Hillsong songwriter announces he’s not Christian anymore
Marty Sampson, a prolific worship music writer known for his work with Hillsong Worship, Hillsong United, Delirious and Young & Free, revealed this past weekend that he is not a Christian anymore.
He wrote in a since-deleted post on Instagram, “I’m genuinely losing my faith, and it doesn’t bother me. Like, what bothers me now is nothing. I am so happy now, so at peace with the world. It’s crazy.”
His reasons for leaving Christianity included contradictions in the Bible, God sending people to Hell, and preachers falling.
— ‘Unplanned’ No. 1 drama DVD
The pro-life movie “Unplanned” was released on DVD and it topped Amazon’s Best Selling charts, including Drama and overall.
The film tells the true true story of former Planned Parenthood clinic director Abby Johnson who quit her leadership position at the abortion provider to become a pro-life advocate.
— 16 percent of Christians say America should repent for racist past
A new Barna study revealed that only 16 percent American practicing Christians said that the Church needs to repent for America's history of slavery and segregation.
Among African American Christians, 24 percent said so while 13 percent of white Christians agreed.
A third of white Christians believe there is “nothing the church should do” in response to the country's history of slavery while 15 percent of African-American practicing Christians said the same.
— Survey reveals whether Americans view churches as positive
A survey from the Pew Research Center found that 52 percent of Americans regard churches and religious organizations as having a positive effect on society, a drop from 59 percent from two years ago.
Democrats are less likely than Republicans to view churches as impacting the country positively.
— Muslims thwart attack against Christians in Kenya
A group of Muslims thwarted a terrorist attack planned against Christians in Northern Kenya, saving nearly two dozen believers from death.
The Islamic extremist group Al-Shabaab had planned to storm a construction site for a new hospital in Kutulo, Kenya and kill any Christian workers they found there. The local Muslim population warned Christians and had them evacuate before the gunmen arrived.
More than 20 Christians were able to flee the site without injuries.
