Battlefield 4 Update: Community Test Environment Lets Players Try Out Features Before Going Live

Battlefield 4 developers are asking fans for help in improving the game by letting them test out features.

Called the Community Test Environment, gamers will be able to try all the new functions and give feedback before DICE roles them out.

"Among the first things we will work on is the 'Netcode,' which is what the player experiences with the game world including player-to-player interactions like damage registration," the Battlefield blog stated. "This involves tweaking to the 'tickrate' servers and networking in general."

This beta of sorts will only be available for Battlefield 4 Premium users of the PC. However, the updates will affect all platforms.

Recently, Battlefield 4 launched Squad Join for multiplayer gamers.

"This is something we know our fans have been asking for – and something we wish we could have provided at launch – so we are now happy to present the first iteration of Squad Join," DICE said in a statement.

PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One will be hosting a beta for Squad Join, which lets groups of up to five players remain together for several rounds. DICE said they will continue to add and tweak the update until it launches with Dragon's Teeth DLC.

According to GameSpot, Squad Join can only be used in Conquest, Team Deathmatch, Obliteration, Rush, and Domination's base maps.

Battlefield 4 is also receiving hardware improvements to the servers to fix a lag problem called "Rubber-Banding."

Rubber-banding is when the player's lag and delay is so bad the game resets their character and respawns them before they can even really take more than a couple of steps with their character. It mostly happens when a server is stacked with a lot of players, reported SegmentNext.
