Beyonce's Album Tops Charts For 2nd Week

Beyonce is still holding on to the top spot on the Billboard charts for the second week in a row.

Beyonce's self titled fifth solo album topped the U.S. Billboard 200 album chart for the second consecutive week after its release, selling 374,000 copies before Christmas, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

After its release on Dec 13, the album has sold 991,000 and counting before Christmas, according to Reuters reports. While it currently remains the 12th best selling album of 2013, Billboard is predicting that the album will become a top ten selling contender before the end of the year.

Although the visual album with 17 videos and 14 songs debuted at number one on the Billboard charts, the 32-year-old singer admitted that she was nervous to release her album without any previous promotion or advertising.

"I was terrified. I was so scared. I already envisioned like the worst things that could happen," Beyonce said at the School of Visual Arts in New York screening for her new music videos, according to ABC News reports. "I was really nervous because this was a huge risk."

It seems the risk paid off and Beyonce managed to sell close to one million records of the brand new album that she surprised her fans and critics with alike. Before releasing her self titled fifth album, Beyonce had not released a new project since 2011.

Beyonce described how challenging it was to surprise her fans with the new work that she waited so long to release.

"Honestly I was at a point where I felt like, you know, everything feels the same ... that's how I felt and if I could not challenge that, then maybe it's time for me to do something else or develop more artists, which is something I want to do," she told fans and colleagues at the screening. "I just hope that I continue to move forward and challenge myself, and I think now that I've become a mother, I just want my legacy to inspire people."
