'Death Stranding' Update: Hideo Kojima Working on Scenario Development, Shares Work Process
Famous game director Hideo Kojima is an artist in its truest sense, as proven by his recent Twitter posts which explained the thorough process behind every game he develops. Could this be a hint that the highly anticipated open world action video game "Death Stranding" may not be hitting stores anytime soon?
Kojima revealed that he does writing and specs at his desk, while things like direction and intricate game designs are done on site. He also shared that he can be very particular about keeping tabs on various components of every game he's working on. He likes to keep a close eye on the models, the background, the lightings and movements, the camera angles, as well as the sounds and the overall visual effects.
And when something seems off and out of place, he makes the orders on where and how to fix and resolve design problems, while also suggesting ideas for a better outcome.
"There is no doubt or waste," he added.
Kojima also shared a bit of update on "Death Stranding" and said that he's been busy working on the game's design, but will be going back to focusing on "scenario development."
"Death Stranding" was first announced during Sony's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 press conference that was held last year in June. The trailer presented during the event did not feature any gameplay but won people's interest nonetheless when it showed an image of a nude Norman Reedus of "The Walking Dead" fame standing on a beach surrounded by lifeless sea creatures. A crying baby appeared to be attached to him via a mechanical cord.
Other cast members include Mads Mikkelsen as well as writer and director Guillermo del Toro, who was quick to state that "Death Stranding" was Kojima's game.
"I think it's gonna be a fantastic game, 100 percent. But this is him and his ideas. I'm just a puppet in his hands. My contribution is limited to being a cheerleader for his ideas and being scanned for long hours at a time. That's about it," del Toro said.
The game is currently scheduled to be released before 2019.
