2. 'The Shawshank Redemption' (1994)

In both its title and plot, "The Shawshank Redemption" doesn’t shy away from biblical references throughout the Academy Award-nominated film.

Like "Carrie," "Shawshank" is based on another Stephen King novel about accountant Andy Dufresne (played by Tim Robbins), who is wrongly convicted of the murder of his wife. 

With biblical themes of redemption, hope and freedom, it’s understandable to see why the film resonates so much with believers.

However, it’s a quote seen in the prison warden’s office that could easily be mistaken for a Bible verse: "His judgment cometh, and that right soon."

While no such quote exists in the pages of Scripture, it does come close to Luke 18:8, which reads, “I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”
