iPhone 5 Release Date Will Not be October; New iPhone 4 Model Likely

As the rumored late September-early October release date of the iPhone 5 quickly approaches, speculation now indicates that the Apple release will not be the iPhone 5 but rather a low-end model similar to the iPhone 4.

9to5 Mac details that it has confirmed that two iPhones are scheduled for release.

However, the iPhone slated to debut in a few weeks is most likely a low-end model with the internal model number "N94."

The N94 is supposedly in production currently and is rolling off the assembly line in big numbers.

Apple has stated that an initial 10 million will be produced and production will continue to accommodate the holiday shopping season.

It is said that the phone will not only have both prepaid and monthly plan options, but will also be heavily marketed and widely available.

In August, MacRumors speculated that the model N94 might actually be the iPhone 5 due to it being linked to having an A5 processor.

The fact that the AT&T iPhone 4 is modeled N90 and the Verizon iPhone 4 is the N92, both of which use A4 processors, further spurned rumors than the N94 was the iPhone 5.

Leaked images of the back of the N94, which show it is strikingly similar to the iPhone 4, have had many concerned that the iPhone 5 is not a new phone but simply and upgraded version of its predecessor.

However, a newly released artists' rendition of the iPhone 5 detail that it will have a tear drop shape, a larger screen and a thinner, rounder body.

New rumors detail that the iPhone 5 is currently experiencing design and production delays and may be released only in limited numbers all the way into 2012.
