Joey Feek Cancer Update: Rory Shares Relevance of + Sign in 'Joey+Rory'

In one of the bravest and most heart-wrecking stories about battling cancer, Rory has once again made fans bleed and cry when he explained in his blog what the plus sign really meant to him and his wife, Joey.

For the past months, Joey has shown a strong and vibrant face to the world as she continues to fight cervical cancer. Even if her looks show the fierce fight she has fought, Rory finds strength in his wife's determination and optimism.

In his blog post on Thursday, Rory explained how "Joey+Rory" came about. "You+Me = whatever this is going to be," he said, adding that the name was coined when they found out they made it through the first round of auditions for "Can You Duet" in 2008.

"When we found out we had made it through the first round of auditions, they asked us what our stage name was going to be. I told Joey that I think we should tell them 'Joey+Rory' because that's what it actually was," he explained.

He further detailed that the plus sign might have confused some fans and production then but they didn't care since it mattered to them the most.

Finally, he said it was God that he and Joey added to the equation during that day. Obviously, it's never an easy road when cancer is on the plate of a family, but with faith, everything seems to be much lighter to carry for Rory and his wife.

Joey made the decision to stop treatment after realizing that she would only be buying more time to suffer and be in pain if she pushed through with chemotherapy and other therapies. Although she has been looking thinner than ever in recent photos, she continues to be strong until the day she has to go.

The singer was diagnosed with the disease about three months after she gave birth to their daughter, Indiana. She now spends most of her time sleeping in her bed under hospice care as her family and friends stick with her to the end.
