'Kino's Journey' Anime Latest News: Special Live Program to Commemorate Simultaneous Release of Finale and First Blu-ray Volume
The Japanese action-adventure anime series, "Kino's Journey ~the Beautiful World~ the Animated Series" is coming to an end this week and a special program has been scheduled to commemorate this event.
On Friday, Dec. 22, a chapter in Kino's life is going to close to with the twelfth and final episode of the anime series based on the light novels written by Keiichi Sigsawa and illustrated by Kouhaku Kuroboshi. This is the second anime animated adaptation following the 2003 "Kino's Journey" series that lasted for 13 episode.
The final broadcast, which also comes on the same day as the release of the first Blu-ray volume, will be celebrated with a special live program which will feature the original series creator, Sigsawa, together with Aoi Yuki, who provides the voice of the series protagonist, Kino; and Soma Saito, who in turn provides the voice of Kino's trusty Motorrad, Hermes.
The special program will be streamed online via Nico Nico Live and YouTube Live at 10:30 p.m. JST.
The guests will be looking back on the anime series, and will also reportedly be performing a recitation drama especially written by Sigsawa himself for the upcoming program.
There will also be a voting event, which will offer viewers an opportunity to decide among the different endings that will be enclosed as a bonus in the special limited edition of the first Blu-ray volume, which will also include the first four episodes of the series.
Episode 11 revealed the origin of the name "Kino" and how and why a girl, who dresses up like a boy, rides a Motorrad, and carries a gun, has decided to embark on a journey to explore the rest of the world.
The preview for the 12th episode her final adventure, at least for the time being. Will there be a subsequent second season? No official announcement has been made yet regarding this matter.
"Kino's Journey ~the Beautiful World~ the Animated Series" airs on Fridays at 10 p.m. JST on AT-X and late night at 12:30 a.m. JST on Tokyo MX, Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, and BS11. Information on other broadcast schedules and online resources can be found on the series' official site. Episodes will also be simulcast in selected regions outside Japan via Crunchyroll.
