Washington Post

In an Aug. 27 report, The Washington Post referred to Westman as a "daughter" despite later opting to use the term "gunman" instead.

A screenshot shared on X showed a version of The Post's report on the 2020 name change to Robin Westman authorized by Westman's mother. Westman was a minor at the time of the name change, the Minnesota Star Tribune reported.

According to the screenshot, The Post wrote: "At the time, Robin was 17. Mary Westman wrote in court documents that her daughter did not have a felony record."

It's not clear when the "daughter" reference was changed to "teenager."  The story was updated without any editorial note referring to the omission. CP reached out to The Post for clarification on Tuesday.
