Nicholas Sparks' Book 'The Best Of Me' Ready for to be Published
Author Nicholas Sparks wrote on his Twitter account Tuesday evening that he has finished writing his seventeenth novel “The Best of Me.”
After discarding 50 pages and rewriting 135, the novelist finished the 345 page story on Tuesday.
“Just finished, again, about 30 minutes ago. The rewrite of the ending was challenging and completely from scratch. All new…,” tweeted the novelist.
Sparks has had 16 books published already, and six have been made into major motion pictures.
“The Best of Me” will be available in bookstores on October 11. The story rights have already been sold to Warner Brothers, who should begin filming “The Best of Me” sometime next year.
Sparks’ novel “Safe Haven” begins filming in October, and another novel-made-movie, “The Lucky One,” will hit theaters this spring.
The author, who is a Christian, told The Christian Post that his writing never includes adultery or pre-marital sex, although he knows that it happens in real life. He chooses not to write using profanity or sex because it is the higher road to do so, and not the “easy” way to create a conflict in a story.
Sparks says he is comfortable writing about his faith, and just because pre-marital sex does occur, does not mean it occurs in 100 percent of young people. He believes that his exclusion of sex in his writing may encourage young people that “you can be in love and not go all the way.”
With the success Sparks has met writing, he continues to create romantic storylines, and in 2008, Entertainment Weekly reported that Sparks and his wife donated almost $10 million to start the Epiphany School. An international college-prep private school, the educational leaders are committed to promoting travel and life-long learning in their students.
Also, Sparks donated an outdoor track to New Bern High School in North Carolina and contributes to local and national charities. A University of Notre Dame graduate, the author also gives money to the school for scholarships, internships, and fellowships.
Nicholas Sparks lives in North Carolina with his wife of 22 years, Cathy, and their five children.
