The X account Libs of TikTok shared a screenshot of a Facebook post by Middle Tennessee State University Associate Dean of Students, Laura Sosh-Lightsy, Wednesday, declaring, “Looks like ol’ Charlie spoke his fate into existence,” adding that she had “ZERO sympathy” for his murder because “hate begets hate.”
Middle Tennessee State University President Sidney McPhee addressed Sosh-Lightsy’s Facebook post in a statement Thursday. He informed the campus community that “an MTSU employee today offered inappropriate and callous comments on social media concerning the horrific and tragic murder of Charlie Kirk.”
McPhee described the comments of Sosh-Lightsy, whom he declined to name, as “inconsistent with our values,” adding that they “undermined the university’s credibility and reputation with our students, faculty, staff and the community at large.”
“This employee has been fired effective immediately,” he stressed. “We extend our deepest sympathies to the Kirk family.”
