Another set of screenshots shared by Libs of TikTok documented Facebook posts from Jennifer Courtemanche, who teaches at Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District in Baytown, Texas. In one post on Wednesday, Courtemanche highlighted how Utah’s Republican Gov. Spencer Cox had condemned the shooting before claiming, “I bet if the victim had been Black or Brown or a Democrat influencer, he’d have been singing a different tune.”

“Could Kirk have baited just ONE too many people? Could this have been the consequences of his actions catching up with him?” Courtemanche posited before suggesting that Kirk’s death was justified because of his rhetoric and beliefs.

In a separate post, also published Wednesday, Courtemanche shared a past quote from Kirk explaining how he “can’t STAND the word empathy,” which he characterized as a “made up, new age term” that does “a LOT of damage.” Courtemanche’s post was accompanied by the word #karma, suggesting that he deserved to be murdered because of what he said about the term “empathy.”

In a statement shared with The Houston Chronicle Thursday, Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District Superintendent Randal O’Brien stopped short of discussing Courtemanche’s employment status while expressing concern about her comments. “Such language is inconsistent with our mission, and has no place in our learning community,” he said.
