'The Simpsons' season 27 spoilers: Homer and Marge are now 'legally separated'
The hit cartoon comedy series will be back this Sunday, and fans want to know what will happen in this upcoming season.
According to Al Jean, "The Simpsons" executive producer, major changes will be seen in this long-running series' new season.
During his interview with Variety, the executive producer said that Homer will be involved with another woman and fall in love. Homer's new pharmacist and new "love" will be voiced by Lena Dunham ("Girls"). According to Jean, Marge and Homer will be "legally separated" in the upcoming season. No confirmation was given by the show's producer whether this separation would only last an episode or if it will be for the entire season.
The producer also revealed that Homer is diagnosed with narcolepsy, which is another reason why the long-time couple would separate.
Meanwhile, the producer teased fans on what else is in-store for them in season 27. "In another episode, Spider Pig makes his return. Sideshow Bob appears in a segment, and we finally see him do something he's wanted to do for 25 years. And we have an episode based on the film 'Boyhood.' It's a flashback/flash forward about Bart. We go to various points in his life and his life to come which I think came out really well," Jean said.
Jean also hinted that Sideshow Bob may succeed in killing Bart this season. In his interview with Entertainment Weekly, he said that Bart's long-time foe will finally get his hands on Bart. "I'm one of those people that always wanted the Coyote to eat the Road Runner," Jean teased
Meanwhile, fans of Ned Flanders, Mr. Burns, and Principal Skinner can still hear Harry Shearer's voice in the characters. The voice actor agreed to stay on the show, provided that he gets "the same terms as the other primaries."
"The Simpsons" will be back this Sept. 27 on Fox.
