Virginia teacher fired for refusing to use trans pronouns with student

Peter Vlaming, a French teacher at West Point High School in Virginia was fired from his job after he declined to use the preferred pronouns of one of his students. Vlaming, a Christian, cited his faith as one of the reasons for why he could not say the things that was asked of him.

“I won't use male pronouns with a female student that now identifies as a male though I did agree to use the new masculine name but avoid female pronouns,” he stated at the time.

Supporters of Vlaming launched an online petition demanding that he not be fired. Similarly, a GoFundMe page for the Vlaming family was started on Dec 6 and has raised over $44,000 as of Sunday.
