3. DOJ releases report finding ‘consistent and systematic pattern of discrimination’ against Christians by the Biden administration
On Monday, the U.S. Department of Justice released a report assembled by the Task Force to Eradicate Anti-Christian Bias documenting a “consistent and systematic pattern of discrimination” against Christians throughout the federal government during the Biden administration.
Examples of anti-Christian discrimination highlighted in the report include the prosecutions of nearly two dozen pro-life activists who peacefully protested outside abortion clinics under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, the blanket denials of requests for religious exemptions to the Biden administration’s mandate that federal employees take the COVID-19 shot, and the termination of a contract with Franciscan Catholic priests who provided pastoral care at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
Additional actions by the Biden administration flagged in the report included the targeting of Christian institutions of higher education, specifically Grand Canyon University and Liberty University, with steep fines as well as a threat to cut federal funding from a Catholic hospital over its display of a prayer candle in its chapel.
The report also documented the denial of promotion to an employee at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development because of the presence of a Bible and a cross in the staffer’s cubicle.
“Religious discrimination will not be tolerated — especially anti-Christian bias that goes against America’s foundational values,” said HUD Secretary Scott Turner in reaction to the findings of the report.
