Trump's week in review: Sues NY Times, designates Antifa as 'major terrorist organization'

1. Trump announces second strike against Venezuelan drug cartel

In a Truth Social post on Monday, Trump announced that the U.S. Military had conducted a “SECOND Kinetic Strike against positively identified, extraordinarily violent drug trafficking cartels and narcoterrorists in the SOUTHCOM area of responsibility” earlier in the day. Trump maintained that “The Strike occurred while these confirmed narcoterrorists from Venezuela were in International Waters transporting illegal narcotics (A DEADLY WEAPON POISONING AMERICANS!) headed to the U.S.”

“These extremely violent drug trafficking cartels POSE A THREAT to U.S. National Security, Foreign Policy, and vital U.S. Interests. The Strike resulted in 3 male terrorists killed in action. No U.S. Forces were harmed in this Strike,” he added.

The president vowed, “IF YOU ARE TRANSPORTING DRUGS THAT CAN KILL AMERICANS, WE ARE HUNTING YOU!”

Monday’s strike came nearly two weeks after Trump announced a strike against members of the narcoterrorist organization Tren de Argua that resulted in 11 alleged terrorists killed. The strikes against drug cartels follow Trump’s implementation of an executive order on the first day of his presidency classifying Tren de Argua and other cartels as foreign terrorist organizations.

The executive order identified cartels as “an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States.” It also establishes it as a “policy of the United States to ensure the total elimination of these organizations’ presence in the United States and their ability to threaten the territory, safety, and security of the United States through their extraterritorial command-and-control structures, thereby protecting the American people and the territorial integrity of the United States.”
