'Unsung Story: Tale of the Guardians' Release Date News: Devs Confirm Switch, PS4, and Xbox One Versions

Game developer Little Orbit has recently confirmed that their crowdfunded project "Unsung Story: Tale of the Guardians" is coming to all major gaming consoles, namely the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

The tactical role-playing game was first announced in 2013 and was introduced as a collaboration between Playdek and Wizards of the Coast at the time. The Kickstarter campaign had a goal of $600,000 to pursue the project. After a year, they were able to go beyond the target amount. However, in August, the project was passed on to Little Orbit, and the game's developers informed its backers that they were "starting from scratch."

Several months after an entirely new management took over the development of the game, Little Orbit provided backers with a set of updates on Monday. First, there will be changes in the exclusive rewards and add-ons for those who funded the game, and second, the game will be released on the major gaming consoles.

Little Orbit provided several reasons as to why they were modifying the rewards packages for the backers. They explained that changes were in order for some pledge packs because "few backers selected the item, which make it financially wasteful to produce."

According to the developer's data, the best example to explain this matter was the "Game Package sold as a $5 add-on" that would have given backers three exclusive game stages. Little Orbit revealed that after a year of the campaign, there were only 329 people who purchased it.

"For now, we are going to cancel this item. However we are evaluating the possibility of offering a new add-on closer to launch that will give backers a discount on purchasing some form of DLC that isn't exclusive," Little Orbit added.

The new creators of the game also revealed that Playdek had miscalculated its shipping cost which made the add-ons or rewards underpriced.

Little Orbit explained: "As an example of this second case, we did some research and the least expensive international shipping is $24 through USPS for padded flat rate envelopes."

However, the developers argued that other reward tiers with more rewards and exclusive add-ons would not fit in an envelope and would require the use of boxes that will incur higher shipping fees. But Playdek had priced all the international shipping fees at $15 per order.

In the end, Little Orbit promised backers: "Don't panic. While we are changing or canceling some rewards, we are also going to give some limited refunds to make up for it."
