All international Hilton hotels to scrap on-demand porn videos

International hotel and resort chain Hilton Worldwide has declared that it will apply changes in its policies, including the removal of on-demand porn videos from all its hotel rooms across the globe.

According to the Catholic News Agency, the National Center on Sexual Exploitation announced the chain's decision, adding that it is "grateful to Hilton for its decision to no longer seek profits from hardcore pornography."

The official statement, as revealed on Huffington Post, reads, "We are making immediate changes to our global brand standards to eliminate adult video-on-demand entertainment in all our hotels worldwide," adding that "While the vast majority of our properties already do not offer this content today, this content will be phased out of all other hotels subject to the terms of their contracts. We believe in offering our guests a high degree of choice and control during their stays with us, including WiFi on personal devices."

The huge company's decision has received nothing but praise and approval from many organizations and other industry watchers as the connection between pornography and sexual exploitation has been in the middle of debates in the past years.

Hilton is not the first chain to apply similar changes to its policies. Omni Hotels and Resorts has stopped selling pornography since 1998 because the CEO "believed" that it was "wrong" to sell such. Marriot has also declared that it is "phasing out" selling of pornography.

Peter Stordalen, owner of Nordic Hotels, one of the major Scandinavian hotel chains that eliminated pay-per-view pornography channels from its 171 hotels in 2013, said he deems it is a "social responsibility" to let the whole world know that Nordic Hotels does not support nor condone the porn industry, noting that it is a contributory factor to trafficking.

Amid Hilton's courageous act, a spokesperson also clarified that guests will still be able to stream porn through their gadgets such as iPads, phones, and other personal devices.
