'Assassin's Creed: Origins' News: Game in the Same Universe as 'Watch Dogs'?

After speculations that two of Ubisoft's open-world games may be in the same universe swirled online, a new hint has arrived, which likely confirms the rumors.

According to a report from Eurogamer, players who will search into the laptop while on the modern-day sections of "Assassin's Creed: Origins" will encounter an image of Aiden Pearce taken from a CCTV cam. The "Watch Dogs" main protagonist is seen standing over the body of Olivier Garneau.

Garneau is the CEO of Abstergo Industries, who first appeared in "Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag." The appearance of Pearce in "Origins" adds to the list of Easter eggs that point to a possible crossover between the two Ubisoft titles.

"Watch Dogs 1 and 2" both feature nods to "Assassin's Creed." Interestingly, the game developer dispelled the rumors surrounding Garneau's appearance as a side-mission on "Black Flag," which was set in the same setting as "Watch Dog 1."

"@ArabianFrost W_D asked me for a tiny crossover idea. I suggested the Garneau thing. They liked it and executed. But it was my little joke," wrote Darby McDevitt, Ubisoft Montreal's Narrative Director back in 2014. Perhaps, it will just be a matter of time where fans of both games will get to experience a cross-over between the two successful franchises.

Meanwhile, Xbox recently confirmed that "Assassin's Creed" for the Xbox 360 will receive enhancements for the Xbox One X. Microsoft announced in a post that "select Xbox 360 games" can be enjoyed in their newly-launched super console "at higher resolution, 9X the original pixel count, and with expanded color details."

Xbox explained that they are using the Heutchy Method, "which leverages the power of Xbox One X to let the Xbox 360 emulator present the very best version of the game possible with the existing assets—all without touching the game code."

Aside from "Assassin's Creed," other 360 titles that received enhancements include "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion," "Fallout 3," and "Halo 3."
