'Concrete Genie' PS4 Release Date, News: Art-Filled Game Coming Out in 2018

Sony has just announced at Paris Games Week that a brand new game titled "Concrete Genie" is coming to the PlayStation 4 console next year.

Set in a small abandoned fishing town called Denska, "Concrete Genie" is an action adventure game that follows a boy named Ash, who discovers a magical paintbrush that has the power to bring his paintings to life.

Ash is described as a bullied teenager, and what he does to cope with his struggles is painting amazing living landscapes and unique creatures throughout Denska. In the process of mastering the magical powers of his paintbrush, he finds out that it can purify his hometown's polluted streets.

The player will take on the role of Ash, an artist, and have fun with paint, according to a blog post on the official PlayStation website. Utilizing DualShock 4's motion control sensor, players can create any landscapes that come to mind, as well as creatures that they can interact with.

"There is so much more to share about Concrete Genie in the coming months, and I can't wait to show everyone as much as we can as we head toward release in 2018," said Dominic Robilliard, the creative director of PixelOpus.

"The goal is to make anyone feel they could be an artist," he also said in an interview, which can be seen below.

PixelOpus is an in-house Sony Interactive Entertainment studio, and the same team behind the 2014 game rhythm game titled "Entwined."

Additionally, according to GameSpot, some of the in-game paintings are said to be helpful in solving environmental puzzles, as well as unveiling clues that will help Ash succeed with his goal to restore the life of his hometown, bringing back the vibrancy into the grey and depressing area.

"Concrete Genie" is coming to PlayStation 4 in 2018. An exact release date has yet to be announced.

The first trailer has been released and can be viewed below.
