Ed Miliband Pelted with Eggs: 'This is Not the First Time' Says Labor Leader

U.K. Labor leader Ed Miliband was pelted with eggs on Thursday following the protests of one man who complained that too much money is going to banks.

A man, identified as Dean Porter, was escorted away from East Street market in Walworth, south London on Wednesday after he tossed eggs at U.K. leader Ed Miliband. Miliband was greeting the public in the market area when Porter struck the politician in both the head and shoulder with fresh eggs. At least one other journalist was also hit with an egg according to reports.

Porter readily accepted fault, telling reporters that the egging had been an "opportunistic moment."

"They should stop giving favouritism to the banks. They do nothing. The Government do nothing. The shadow government do nothing," he said according to the Telegraph. "I don't believe him at all. If you are poor, you are considered a burden. All they care about is the banks."

Porter, who describes himself as a "London-based cycle courier"- also identified himself on Twitter. He appeared proud of his success at egging Miliband.

"I tried to egg Ed Miliband as he came down to East Street in southwark, watching the news to see if its on," Porter wrote on Twitter.

Miliband attempted to play the incident off quickly, making light of the situation.

"This is not the first time it's happened to me, I'm sure it's not the last," he told reporters just after the incident occurred. An aide helped Miliband out of his soiled jacket as the politician continued to meet and greet people in the street. "I'm always looking for new ways to connect with the voters."

Even after the event however, Miliband still appeared in good humor. He later joked on Twitter: "Thanks to all at East St Market for the warm welcome today. Can recommend it for easy availability of eggs."
