'Game Of Thrones' Season 6 News, Spoilers: Melisandre And Davos Are 'Strange Bedfellows,' Liam Cunningham Says; Series To Get Aftershow

Though he has mostly kept mum about what goes on in the highly anticipated sixth season of HBO's popular fantasy drama series "Game of Thrones," actor Liam Cunningham, who plays Davos Seaworth in the series, has hinted at what's to come for his character and Melisandre (Carice van Houten).

"I love this phrase, but they really are very strange bedfellows," Cunningham told The Hollywood Reporter. "They hate each other, but they're in the same position. Dramatically, it's brilliant. It's absolutely interesting from a dramatic point of view to see where these two characters are going to go. Right now, they're not in a good place."

And things between the two will only get worse when Davos finds out that Melisandre is responsible for the death of his friend Shireen (Kerry Ingram), Stannis Baratheon's (Stephen Dillane) only child. As fans will recall, Melisandre burned Shireen alive as a sacrifice to the Lord of Light in season 5. According to Cunningham, Davos finding out the truth about his friends' death is something that the series will pursue "dramatically," though he declined to provide details as to how this will go down.

The actor did, however, drop some hints about new characters entering the series. "We have quite a few new people on board this year, and as usual, there's carnage with characters going down," he told THR.

Cunningham also said that the show will soon have to end. "This year, we pushed the limit even more, because we know it's going to come to an end soon," he said. "It has to."

Meanwhile, HBO has announced that when "Game of Thrones" returns, it will be accompanied by its very own aftershow. Called "After the Thrones," the post-"Game of Thrones" talk show is set to be hosted by Andy Greenwald and Chris Ryan, the hosts of HBO's "The Ringer."

"Game of Thrones" returns to HBO on Sunday, April 24.

"After the Thrones" debuts Monday, April 25.
