'General Hospital's' Kirsten Storms and Brandon Barash Split

An unexpected twist in the plot has evolved in the true-to-life marriage between "General Hospital" stars Kirsten Storms and Brandon Barash. After being married for two years, the real-life spouses have decided to split. The couple revealed the reason for their divorce as being irreconcilable differences.

Brandon told Soap Opera Digest, "We are splitting due to the cliché irreconcilable differences, but we're splitting amicably." He went on to say, "We have every intention of remaining a family through this and successfully co-parenting our kid and retaining a friendship in the efforts of raising her in a healthy environment."

The "General Hospital" star explained that the decision was not a spur-of-the-moment thing, that it was a result of a whole lot of thought. The actor even mentioned therapy had been a part of the process before the final decision was made.

The couple decided at the outset of professional help that separation was the best decision to make, considering their daughter Harper, who is two.

Storms added that they had gone into therapy "… for a long time, trying to figure out how to communicate better with each other. It's not anything that we dislike about each other …"

The couple decided that raising their child separately was the best choice for their family.

Most folks know this couple as Johnny and Maxie from the popular ABC TV series "General Hospital." No one seems to have seen this coming, least of all their fans on the show.

The early stages of their relationship budded early in 2013, and the couple announced in August of the same year, two months after being wed, that they had been married in a secret ceremony. In January of the next year, Storms gave birth to their daughter.

The couple went on to say that they are aware that speculation and gossip are bound to come out from their decision, but they both believe that they had made the best decision possible for their family.

Barash declared, "There was nothing that went into this outside of what we've told you. We're doing what we feel is best for ourselves and Harper."
