'H1Z1' PS4 Release Date: 'King of the Kill' Trailer Teases Upcoming Game

Developer and publisher Daybreak Game Company has released two new trailers teasing fans of its upcoming MMO "H1Z1." In particular, the "King of the Kill" trailer showcases what's arriving on Sony's console soon.

The "H1Z1: King of the Kill" trailer (below) features several characters in the game. There's Sgt. Brock Lee whose weapon of choice is an AK-47. The character Brian Moore uses an axe, while Kyle Bacon uses his fists to fight. Justin Case goes ala Katniss Everdeen in "Hunger Games," as he wields a bow and arrow. Finally, there's Sindie who uses the Molotov bomb. It isn't clear, however, if these characters will be playable come launch day.

Meanwhile, Daybreak also released a new trailer (below) for "H1Z1: Just Survive." Daybreak told GameSpot previously that they plan to bring "Just Survive" to the console "eventually." However, the company provided no details of when exactly this will be.

"H1Z1" was originally planned to be a single game, but Daybreak previously announced it decided to split the game for the PC version. The company explained its decision as being based on player feedback. While "King of the Kill" is an online multiplayer shooter game, "Just Survive" is an open world zombie survival game.

"They have completely different communities that have different needs, desires, and wants, and we really want to be able to cater and grow the games to be able to nurture both of those players bases distinctly," Daybreak Chief Publishing Officer Laura Naviaux told GameSpot during an interview earlier this month. "After a lot of thought, we came to the conclusion that we should really split these games into two different products and the player community had actually asked us to do that."

"H1Z1: King of the Hill" will release to PC, PS4, and Xbox One in summer 2016. It features microtransactions for cosmetic items only to avoid a "pay-to-win" scenario. The game currently costs $19.99 on Steam Early Access. Meanwhile, "H1Z1: Just Survive" doesn't have a release date yet.
